default options example doesn't work for me

that example doesn't work for me, but if i do this, it does: http://pastebin.com/gxQLUxGW
assuming I fix the double quote issue that I just opened a ticket for, when I do it as stated on the readme, I get this when I just go to site.com/hello:
→ Notices and warnings
[1. WARNING]
Missing argument 2 for hello() in index.php line 50
Hello bob
But when i put a value... like site.com/hello/jim:
Hello bob jim
